One of the coolest spots in town used to be the 555 studio complex, a fabulous example of a successful "arts incubator." One wonders if the city could somehow make the way straight for this facility to reopen, given the wonderful slate of events they used to sponsor. Many of the 555 artists relocated to Detroit, but it's almost 5 years later. The city has seen several wildly successful Shadow Art Fairs since then, thanks to the good work of Mark Maynard and his associates, which fairs have drastically highlighted the profile of local indie arts and which have driven home the idea that the arts can be profitable and a popular attraction. Y. wonders if a revitalized 555 arts incubator is within the scope of consideration for the C&C folks.
