It was full of people. There were 2 soccer games going on in Frog Island. There was, in Riverside Park, a man walking with and holding hands with his motorized-wheelchair wife, their friend walking next to them, a guy on a scooter talking to a friend, a lady with a fishing rod and waders on the Tridge, another fisherperson with tackle on the bank, at least 5 walkers milling around, a biker with her dog on a leash, a group of about 6 friends who each brought their dogs for some splashing in the river, two people on a bench near them, three more bikers passing through, some people in the far southern edge of the park I didn't see very well, and two more 40ish bikers sitting on a bench and wondering who on earth would describe the parks as "underutilized." I also had another idea, courtesy Ypsi City Desk: Astronomy Nights in Riverside Park. I think the solution to raising money from the parks is not to impair the natural beauty of, especially, Riverside Park with a lot of visual clutter like play structures, duplicating those already in Prospect Park, and unused fitness-trail stations. I think the solution is new, inventive programming, based on a survey of what Ypsilantians want to see happen in Frog Island and Riverside Parks. add your comment: |
