Appalachian State and Oregon both ran a spread offense, which seems to be a growing trend in college football, despite its riskiness. To my understanding, Notre Dame is running a more conservative offense this season. Is that right? So in a way it'll be a more similar style of play to Michigan next week. Tell me if I'm wrong here; I'm really woefully ignorant about football.

Penn State crushed Notre Dame today, 31-10. You can almost see Penn State's collective eyes turn towards Michigan, just waiting to roll into town after next week's battle between the two storied teams facing awful season beginnings.

Oh, Lordy. A couple got married--wearing tasteful and exquisitely tailored white football jerseys--at a tailgate party at today's Penn State-Notre Dame game. TACK----KEEEE!!

Fritz was charmed by this touching matrimonial story too. "Have some dignity!" he said, sternly. "Go to Las Vegas, and get married by an Elvis!" Hee hee.

The white plastic chairs in the photo are a nice touch, too. Elegant, almost, in their simplicity, and with a Mobile Homes Communities appeal to casual comfort at any stage of inebriation.

I noticed a group of furtive-looking people in green and white standing outside Michigan Stadium sticking pins in maize and blue voodoo dolls on Saturday... Of course, the University's decision to desecrate the historic stadium in the name of modernization may have reactivated the curse put on it by "The Halo" a few years back.

I thought it was in the name of money. I remember the Halo well--but I think I prefer that lovely decoration to the current plague of luxury accomodations. I think it's wildly out of proportion to have such things at a non-NFL, college game, fer Pete's sake. But what do I know.
