I am sorry I missed this. I would haved loved to join in.

Now, who is the gentleman in the green shorts & straw hat? I could have sworn I saw him dancing in front of the rock stage, too--on both days I went to the HF. AND, I am almost positive I've seen him dancing last year, too. I like seeing someone so comfortable in their own skin that they'll dance pretty much all by themself in front of a stodgy, seated crowd. I think of him as the Heritage Festival Dancing Man.

This actually makes me want to try contra dancing, anathema as that was when I was still in my 30s and could at least convince myself I was to some pathetic degree cool. In a way turning 40 was kind of a liberation. I feel so self-confident that I feel I can do the most ludicrous thing, just for fun, without the slightest worry about what anyone else might think. I don't have time to worry about that. Carpe diem! Carpe contra!
